Phnom Penh Teacher Education College (PTEC) is Cambodia’s leading national institution for teacher education. It offers the country’s four-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree as well as the Bachelor +1 programs in Primary and Lower Secondary Education, designed to meet the evolving needs of Cambodia’s education system. In addition to its pre-service training, PTEC is a certified Continuing Professional Development (CPD) provider, officially recognized by the MoEYS, supporting in-service educators across the country. PTEC plays a crucial role in policyinformed education reform and is actively involved in strengthening Cambodia’s research culture in education. Its programs are developed in alignment with national teacher education standards, ensuring the quality and relevance of both initial teacher training and ongoing professional development. The institution has been granted full accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia (ACC), affirming its commitment to excellence in teacher preparation and educational leadership.

Mary Immaculate College (MIC), Limerick is Ireland’s largest provider of primary teacher education and a leader in educational research, particularly in literacy, inclusion, and disadvantage. MIC brings experience in school-university partnerships, practitioner research, and curriculum innovation. It offers a strong institutional base for mutual staff mobility and collaborative research. In December 2024 MIC welcomed visitors from PTEC and SBB Cambodia to the College and discussed ongoing collaborations to strengthen Cambodian education.

The Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education, Maynooth University is known for its distinctive student-centred learning experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students in Primary and Early Childhood Education. The Department is named after the 19th century German educator and founder of Kindergarten, Friedrich Froebel. The Department brings experience in experiential learning for teachers, teacher identity and international teacher education partnerships. Collectively staff within the Department bring a diverse range of research interests and many have particular experience in practitioner/participatory-based research. MIC and the Froebel Department, Maynooth have a long relationship of collaboration on numerous teacher education projects in Ireland.

SBB Cambodia (SBBC) is a UNESCO award-winning NGO with deep and sustained engagement across Cambodian schools. It has built trusted relationships with the MoEYS, educators and communities over more than a decade, and now works with a growing network of Agile Schools—functioning public schools that are receptive to structured research, innovation, and professional learning. SBB Cambodia supports inclusive education, school leadership, mentoring, and digital tool development. As a non-academic partner, SBB’s continued involvement and resourcing are vital to the operation and coherence of the Alliance.
